The nature of intelligence, developmental psychology, and linguistics and their relevance to clinical work are discussed, and the critical role of communication with parents is emphasised throughout. As a synthesis of basic science and clinical practice, the book presents a logical approach to developmental paediatrics, which will appeal not only to doctors but also to professionals such as educational and clinical psychologists, therapists and social workers.
